After the release of Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android, Nokia was caught between the battle for mobile phone supremacy and to be honest, the Finnish giant was losing the war and was nearly ousted from the market until they made a few adjustments.
With the release of their revamped “N series” phones, Nokia has been able to make a slow and gradual climb back into the top ranks of the market but that too was short lived.
Nokia needed not to entirely replace their product range, but it was their once extremely powerful and popular operating system which was taking them out of the scene as customers wanted more flexibility, usability and a more modern and advanced platform.
So they released the Symbian Anna update which might not have brought the company at par with Apple or the Taiwanese giant, HTC, but it certainly is better than nothing and a great starting step on their way back to cellular phone greatness.
After their new N series phones like the N8 and E7 came out with the touch screen specific, Symbian ^3 operating system, consumers were waiting for something more, something that would allow users to at least argue with Apple or HTC users as to why Nokia
is the better smartphone.
Symbian Anna might not be a revolutionary step in the battle for OS greatness, but it is certainly an update, which is available for all new Nokia smartphones, that is a must for loyal and dedicated users.
Being a 250 MB plus update, the change is not small either. With a major transformation in the phones web browser, the internal built system is actually usable and replaces the need to use third party browsers like Opera for mobile.
The keyboard layout has also changed monumentally to replicate that of the iPhone and is very impressive indeed.
Scrolling, opening applications and basically everything else from the email client to better usage of the phones resources, the new software update has made a Nokia users life much easier and fun.
Nokia might still have a long way to go to match the demand of Apple or HTC phones, but their partnership with Microsoft to use the Windows 7 for mobile OS in their future phones is a much anticipated happening and can ensure fans that some fantastic smartphones
are in the line-up.
