The Walking Dead – Watch your backyard this fall

Frank Darabont’s The Walking Dead is back with scarier and faster zombies. The second season of this post-apocalyptic horror television series is currently on air. It premiered on October 16^th, 2011 and comprises of thirteen episodes unlike six
in the original.

The series follows the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. It focuses on a small group of survivor travelling across the deserted United States in order to survive and find a new home away from the undead. Rick Grimes (starred by Andrew Lincoln) was a sheriff
deputy in a small Georgia town, leads the group. In every turn they take, the group faces intolerable horror that comes from the walkers or the zombies. In addition to this, they face hostility from other survivors who now focus on their own survival. Overall,
the structures of global society have collapsed.

In this on-going season, Grimes group of survivors will leave Atlanta for the countryside where they encounter the Greene family. On their way towards the countryside, they face a traffic blockage and came across a Zombie parade towards them. Things get
messy after a young girl from the group gets missing and Grimes’ son gets shot on their search mission. 

AMC renewed The Walking Dead series for a third season after the premier of season two broke cable ratings records. AMC president, Charlie Collier stated, "We are thankful for everyone’s contribution in front of and behind the camera as we continue to make The
Walking Dead a unique television experience. And, we are so proud as it continues to set viewer ship records around the world."

The premier set a record of 7.3 million viewers. Along with this, it set a record of being most watched episode of a drama in the history of basic cable television in these measures.

The series is based on current comic book series, The Walking Dead, by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.

Marketing of the series was done by releasing a motion comic based on the issue number one of the comic book series. Action figures of the main characters including Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon and a Zombie Walker and Biter were created for release in November
2011.

This series was nominated for Best New Series for the 2011 Writers Guild of America Awards and was also nominated for the Best Television Series Drama at the 68^th Golden Globe Awards.

The Walking Dead is simply the best zombie apocalypse drama series and is a must watch for everyone.
