The "Kat" trend
Pakistan is a special place to live in. The natural beauty of the area is unmatched and can bring the prettiest places in the world to shame. However, we are a country of individuals who can easily be influenced.
I call it the “Hollywood bites” that is, to get inspired by things that we have no affiliation with but get involved too much. Having a cat in your home is one such thing.
Whenever you go to someone’s house these days a cat will confront you in one out of three instances. They are just a cuter version of dogs in my opinion, but there is more to them.
The feline has the ability to make you like it, while also keeping you at bay and straying away from too much affection. It will come to you once a day at least so that you can cajole it and have your way, and then run away when you get the feel of it.
For me, cats are a strange animal. They are not like dogs or parrots about whom you can brag about. A dog will play tricks and pester you for attention. On the other hand, an animal like a parrot will communicate with you and make funny noises. Just looking
at them eating is a treat. Parrots have the etiquette to look away when dining, a decency trait missing in most of us these days.
Coming back to the point, cats are everywhere these days. Having a pedigreed cat in your living space is the in thing. What boggles the mind is that a lot of people are allergic to them. They also litter the house with their dropping hairs all the time.
It is a hassle to take care of them. You have to comb them, take them out, get specialised food, and potty train them. People do not have time for their children and we have to take care of this high maintenance animal.
However, all these problems pale in comparison when your cat is expecting a family of its own. All sorts of noises are made and everyone wants the newly born. You cannot say no to everyone and want it for yourself. For the sake of relationships we have to
turn people down to make someone else happy.
Kats are the “in” thing at the moment. We all want them but do not understand the consequences.
