Pakistan and India had bilateral talks on Thursday as the Prime Ministers of both the countries were present in Maldives to attend the SAARC summit. After one on one and delegation meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries Syed Yousaf Raza
Gilani said in his statement in company with Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh that, “We met today and decided to resume the dialogue process.”
The two countries had decided to carry on their interaction at all levels. In addition to that both Pakistan and India had also agreed to talk about the mainstay issues like Kashmir, terrorism and trade in order to start a new beginning in the history of
the two-sided talks.
The members of the Pakistani delegation that assisted Prime Minister Gilani during the bilateral talks included Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Communication Minister Dr Arbab Alamgeer, Minister for Ports and Shipping
Babar Gauhri.
The two-sided talks between the two prime ministers began with delegation and then both the Prime Ministers Gilani and Dr Manmohan Singh had a meeting in person for some time, after which delegation level meeting started took place once again.
The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere that was can judged from the faces of the Prime Ministers of the both Pakistan and India, when they came out in front of the series of media persons who came not just from Asia but also from the other parts
of the world as well.
The bilateral meeting between Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India, most awaited by the international media, was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere which was visible from the faces of two prime ministers when they came out for the photograph
before battery of journalists from Pakistan, India and many other countries.
At the end of the bilateral talks, Prime Minister Gilani along with his counterpart Manmohan Singh, said while addressing the media persons that talks were only way forward for the two countries and the both sides will continue to interact at all levels
in the future.
Both Pakistan and India had decided to especially improve their relation through the two-sided relations in people to people contacts and trade apart from cooperating on the fight against terrorism in order to have peace and security in the region.
This meeting between the two Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India was much anticipated by the international media, took place in Java Resturant of Shangrila Resort, which was a beautiful place, developed before the SAARC summit.
