Nawaz to intensify his partys anti-government movement as it takes aim at PTI
Saturday, November 12th, 2011 4:31:48 by Sajjad HussainAs the temperature rises in the already hot climate of Pakistan politics, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz is considering serious measures to fight the heat. In a move that will have a huge bearing on his political future, Nawaz Sharif is said to have assured
his party bigwigs that the PML-N too will hold a rally in Minar-e Pakistan in a tit-for-tat bid against Imran Khan’s Pakistani Tehrik-e Insaf.
To intensify its purported anti-government movement, the PML-N is now putting concerted efforts to get sustained financial support. For this purpose, it has held an extensive discussion with the PML-N’s overseas wing president Senator Ishaq Dar.
Although the whole content of the discussion was not made public, reports suggest that it was held in the backdrop of Imran Khan’s apparently successful rally in Lahore last month which was attended by thousands of PTI workers. The emphasis in the meeting
was to gather the same or more number of people to show the party still wields influence and power in Punjab.
Nawaz Sharif, while assuring his party members that the rally will be held at the same venue, also said that the country has been going through a lot of problems, and a new movement be kicked off to save the country.
“The country has already been divided into two parts because of secret hands,” said Nawaz. “I consider politics to be a sacred mission and that he would not forego any sacrifice to save the country.”
For this purpose, financial support has already been sought from the overseas supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. News reports also suggest that the amount of money it would previously get from local donors has reduced to a considerable extent
which has prompted the party to look for new sources.
Also, with Dar making a presentation of the financial cost a gathering will have, it is said that at minimum it requires 15 million, and 30 million maximum to hold such rallies. It now remains to be seen that how the ‘Go Zardari Go’ campaign which had started
last months, sees its next phase in Faisalabad which is scheduled on 20th of this month.
