The Indian film actress and director Nandita Das has said that he will hopefully get back to acting in another year and a half.
In the India city for the 17th International Children’s Film Festival, Nandita Das, who is taking things slow right now, gets candid about how motherhood she has changed her life. She added that
motherhood involves a lot of attention, energy and time. A mother has to be with the baby all the time.
She also mentioned that she was in fact, supposed to do Deepa Mehta’s “Midnight’s Children” and that time, she thought she can do it, but even with her baby being six months old, there was no way she could be away for long hours.
Nandita added that at that time she realized she will feel guilty both as an actor and mother if she does this show, so she decided not to do the film.
She told the media on the children’s day on November 14 that right now, she has 10 scripts with herself, but she just has not had the time to read them and because of that she wants to give a public apology to all those directors.
Talking to reporters, Nandita commented, “Motherhood has changed me in a big way. I don’t think I even knew what motherhood was all about earlier. I wasn’t really ready to be a mom then. I used to think ‘Oh it’s just a cultural calculation that you have
to be a mother by a certain age and blah blah’. But when it actually happened, it had a great impact on my life.”
The award-winning Indian film actress and director went on to mention, “Watching a child grow is an amazing experience. Every day, the child is doing something new and the kind of wonder he has when he sees everything for the first time is beautiful. As
adults, we lose that ability and that’s why we are so cynical. I think to have that childlike wonderment, to be able to enjoy new things and to be able to have that positive attitude is so important. My child is my constant reminder of that.”
Apart from that he stated that she was involved in human rights activities much before she got into acting and that her this activity has impacted her choice of films.
