With the release of movies like Gone In 6o Seconds and Fast &the Furious trilogy, our generation had gone wild regarding street racing. Well it’s racing because they have got no proper tracks where these people can enjoy their
sport. Once there was a track in BAHRIA TOWN, however, a tragic accident laid that to rest as well.
Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar are the main quarters of this sport. And surprisingly this sport has no age limit. There have been sites of old racers and racers that do not even have the age to get a licence. Yes! Teenagers
and grandfathers are burning down the rubber in these cities.
No matter what time or what place, they just need a little rev up before they shift down and slam the pedal. This is not the only interesting thing that is happening here. Internationally, people have a standard of tuning their
rides, and surprisingly, people in Pakistan have reached the same limit. Cars that reach up to 500Bhp and some even cross that mark are seen burning down rubber every now and then.
Back in 2004, Islamabad had a race track, an illegal one. Faisal avenue was the track where all the riders whether bikes or cars, would come as if the second part of Fast & Furious was being shot at Islamabad. Cars had so much
power that they out ran a 900cc Kawasaki Ninja, considered one of the fastest bikes. Then there were cars, small cars. Ones like Daihatsu charade and Toyota starlet. Seemingly they were small yet they were underestimated.
How would it feel when you had a car that you imported, a sports car for instant, specifically if u had a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution? How would it feel if I had my Charade and I smoked you car in a quarter mile drag race? Yes,
you would certainly be finding a wall to bang your head or the guts to destroy your useless car.
This was back in 2004; things have gone at a maximum now. Every second car that seems like a trashcan come forth with a G13B turbo or a D15 Vtec engine (two of the strongest engines used for modifications). Last but not the least,
the white people thought we wouldn’t go over the 500Bhp mark well there came a slap on their face when a Islamabad guy installed Nitro-oxide in his car that literally destroyed every car in Drag racing.
Nevertheless, Street racing is building up in Pakistan at 100mph and it would be better that the government made a proper racing track for these individuals to display their talents. From drag racing to circuit racing to drifting,
we have got talent that can mesmerize the world yet still require a place to show it all. However, for some, the streets will still be a better place to show off.
