Suspects sent on judicial remand in kidnapping case of new born baby

Four suspects were arrested in the kidnapping case of a new born boy from National Institute of Child Health (NICHS). A trainee nurse Sobia Saleem along with Gul Noor Bibi and Farzana are the female suspects in this case, whereas fourth suspect is Farzana’s
husband, Akbar Awan.

The judicial Magistrate, Mumtaz Solangi sent three female suspects on judicial remand on Monday, November 14. The male suspect was also remanded in police custody till November 16 while the court sent female suspects on remand in prison till November 27.

In the hearing, police told court that the infant was kidnapped on November 4. The police got the CCTV footage from NICHS and after examining it repeatedly, police got some clues regarding the involvement of Sobia Saleem.

Afterwards, the police investigated Sobia, who told during investigation that she handed-over the new-born to a childless couple with the help of Gul Noor Bibi against the sum of Rs30,000.

Police arrested the trainee Nurse and the childless couple, Farzana and Akbar Awan while they also searched for the last suspect of the case, Ms. Noor, who was taken into police custody on Monday.

Police raided the couple’s house in Model colony on November 13 and recovered the new born boy from their house. According to the police, it was Ms. Noor, who acted as a bridge between the both parties and also made arrangements for the baby.

The police articulated that the trainee nurse and the couple are unfamiliar to each other but Noor lives in the same area where the couple lives.

The victim’s father, Rahib Ali, appreciated the work done by police department and told that they handled this case brilliantly which is beyond everyone’s expectation. He said, “I must admit that I never had a good opinion about our police force but I now
realise that no crime can stay undetected if they take their task sincerely.”

After seeing the commitment and sincerity of Police towards the case, the family hoped that the boy would become police-officer.
