The Dark Knight Rises: The much awaiting upcoming superhero movie

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises is in production since 180 days earlier. It is scheduled for a summer 2012 release and will be the final instalment of the series.

Christian Bale is back as Batman for this third instalment of Nolan’s Batman series. It is based on the DC Comics character Batman and is written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan. Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman will be joining Bale as Alfred
Pennyworth, James Gordon and Lucius Fox respectively.

Spicing the flick further, Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (played by Anne Hathaway) will be one of the two main villains. Other character is Bane, portrayed by Tom Hardy, who is one of the most powerful Batman enemies.

The plot is unknown yet but filming took place around the world including London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, Newark, Pittsburgh and India. Nolan initially refused to return for this instalment but later agreed after discussing filming with his brother
in order to conclude the series with a satisfactory note. Nolan wanted a great story to keep him emotionally invested. "On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question," he reasoned, "how many good third movies in a franchise can people name?"

Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov hoped a third movie which would be release in 2011 or 2012. However, they set a July 20^th, 2012 date for releasing the movie in United Kingdom, United States and Canada.

Nolan chose not to film with 3-D cameras and after focusing on improving image quality, he chose IMAX cameras. By IMAX format, he hoped to push technological boundaries while nevertheless making the style of the film consistent with its previous two parts.

On an estimated budget of $250 million, filming started on May 6, 2011 in Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India. It is scheduled to wind up in November.

Marketing of the movie was also started in May when the film’s official website was launched. It used amazing ways to promoted and whenever someone commented on its twitter link, a pixel was removed which eventually revealed Bane.   

With the hype created so far and with the introduction of new villains, Bane and Catwoman, this flick is definitely on my radar. Though they can’t replace Joker – Heath Ledger but it is definitely a must watch movie of 2012.
