Are early elections a solution?

As it is evident from the history of Pakistan politics, elections are meant for nothing except change of the faces. Mid-term elections, full-term elections, referendums, general polls and other such type of political games have badly failed to address our
problems. Since the dawn on 1947, we have mandated many Massihas (saviours), but no one has given us a single breath of relief. Why do we think of elections again?

Actually, the problem lies at our end. We, the public, are badly deprived of the political acumen. We do not know the value and power of vote. To most of us, vote stands for going to the polling station and throwing a piece of paper in the box of some landlord,
industrialist, secessionist or an ethnic leader. What a hell the approach is!

Over last 65 years, we have elected the same political dynasties alternatively, and suffered resultantly. A corrupt and criminal leader, who oppresses the public wholeheartedly during his term, makes inroads to the parliament with more ‘mandate’ and prestige
after missing just a term.

In the era when human beings are planning to establish new worlds on stars, the mentally enslaved Pakistanis are voting on ethnic, linguistic, geographic and ‘religious’ grounds. Before going to the polling center, we do not bother to evaluate, in the light
of his qualification, eligibility, experience, caliber and past character, the candidate whom we have pledged to support. Like robots, we are merely programmed to repeat the same thing again and again.

In these days, the opposition political parties with Pakistan Muslim League (N) at the top are pressing the treasury benches to step down and go for early elections. Just stop here and think for a moment that what next elections will bring for us. Absolutely
nothing. Does the PML (N), which is dreaming to dominate the parliament after the elections, has any solution and strategy to turn Pakistan into a safe and secure place of living? Certainly not. Believe me, if they come to power, they will do no different
from what they did during last two terms.

I fear the silly Pakistani voters will back N group in the coming elections illogically and thus, start suffering again. Though Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-i- Insaf, is expected to make breakthrough, but he will not be able to form an independent
government.

So what is the solution? The only remedy of our miseries is fair leadership whether in or outside the parliament. If Sharif Brothers intends to change the lot of Pakistanis, they should do so in the Punjab Province where they are in power now. If they have
not done anything constructive during the ongoing term, how is it possible that they will make any difference after new elections.

The paradigm should be changed now. Our leaders, if there is any, should make strategies and give visions for long-term revolution instead of lobbing for booking the parliamentary berths. They should work honestly where and what they are. They should be
fair with themselves first and with the nation.

In the end, I would like to suggest that there is no reliable leader in Pakistan at the moment except Khan who is supposed to bring change. Believe me, if you vote for any of the traditional political dynasties again, your will extend your agonies for another
five years. Be awakened, be sensible and rise up for a better future. For God sake.
