PML-Q likeminded group divided over new political alliance

The PML-Q Likeminded’s Head, Senator Salim Saifullah, has completely lost control over his group on the decision to form a political alliance as every member of the faction is mulling to take a solo flight for joining hands with any political party.

The PML-Q likeminded, a rebel group of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, is wondering these days for a political manoeuvre and wants to cash their numbers and political worth as it has still some members in the parliament. However, it seems that now the group
is no more united.

Observing the rising popularity of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its leader Imran Khan, some party members are about to move in the PTI soon without caring the thoughts and wishes of their teammates and their chief, Salim Saifullah.

Sources informed that Salim Saifullah was even unable to hold a final meeting of his group that was scheduled to be held back in October, as he feared that no consensus would be developed among the members in the sitting. They further said that some important
figures are against the move for joining the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and want to make an affiliation with the PTI. Some party members who were thinking to join ruling Pakistan Peoples Party are now considering other options due to falling reputation
of incumbent government.

Sources maintained that most of the members were still in favour of a political alliance with PML-N, however, former foreign minister Khursheed Mehmood Qasuri and Hamid Nasir Chatha were against the proposal and wanted to have an alliance with PTI.

According to them the PTI is getting the support of masses especially in Punjab. “These two now are trying to convince others in the group and they have got some support for their idea,” sources added.

On the other hand, Senator Salim Saifullah denied the impression of his loosing grip over his faction. He said that all the members were in contact and consultation was underway about the right choice for their political alliance. He said that he personally
wanted to see all factions of Muslim League as united. “We were all together but gradually dispersed due to various reasons.”

Salim Saifulla further said that the final decision will be made by mutual consensus. He said that some of their teammates also crazy for a political experiment by joining Imran Khan. He said that they were still in contact with various political parties
for any possible move.

Sources said that Hamayun Akhtar and his friends in the dissident faction wanted this group to enter in alliance with the PML-N. He had already expressed his desire for joining hands with Nawaz Sharif.

Now it will be a challenge for Salim Saifullah to keep the group intact as no one is ready to pay him much regard and every individual of the party wants to make his own choice seeing an opportunity.
