Pakistani cinemas to show Iranian films
Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 9:24:16 by Umair HassanWith millions of people desperate for some entertainment and want to live a lively life in a country where peace of mind is still luxury, the Pakistani government and its film industry’s head representative body Lollywood have decided to showcase Iranian
films in the local cinemas after the Hollywood and Bollywood films have received so much appreciation by general public.
The idea is to import the Iranian films in Persian at first place and then to dub in Urdu language before their screenings in the theatres. This plan was initially crafted by the several Lollywood representatives and later went to the concern government
authorities who despite approving, are still looking thoroughly before making any final sayings.
The possible arrival of Iranian films into Pakistan sparked the media with many speculations coming as what else was left to discourage the local conventional Punjabi films that still cater a large rural audience across the country.
Already, Lollywood has always criticised the Hollywood especially Bollywood to ruin their chances of surviving in their own country with the exuberant amount of fan following of Indian and English films among youth of Pakistan.
However, this initiative was highly regarded by the Lollywood in-fact they are the ones who have put this thing forward in order to contribute little to provide a different sense of appreciation for an entirely dissimilar culture.
