Why Hassan Bashir can be a goal-machine for Pakistan

Pakistan’s inability to find the back of the net and their failure to convert their chances have been one of the main reasons why the team has not achieved success in so many years. Our local strikers have thoroughly proved that they are not the right candidates
for the job but Hellerup IK’s Hassan Bashir could be the man the Green Kickers are searching for.
Although he hasn’t be able to feature in Pakistani colours uptil now, Bashir was called up for the series against India and made an instant impact on the coaches.
Tariq Lutfi, who was heading up the camp at the time, was full of praise of the talented forward and said that his skills in the final third were hugely impressive.
“Hassan Bashir has impressed me a lot. He is an intelligent boy and the most important thing about him is that he appears to be very disciplined and committed.”
“We tested him on the first day in frontline and his running and final passes were very good,” said Lutfi, who has been serving as Pakistan’s coach since January 15 this year. “I think, he would be a welcome addition to the frontline of the national team,”
the tactician said.
With him leading the attack, Pakistan had an edge to their side and it was expected that they would put up a good showing. However unluckily the series got cancelled and Bashir never made his debut.
However his inclusion in the squad has boosted the side’s chances, as previously no player has ever been able to consistently find the back of the net except perhaps Muhammad Essa.
The play maker often featured up-front and scored 26 goals to great acclaim. But after his retirement, no one from the likes of Muhammad Rasool to Arif Mehmood has ever been able to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
Whether the shortage is due to the lack of quality midfielders or simply bad finishing, the fact remains that Pakistan has missed out on numerous opportunities due to this.
That is expected to change, however when Hassan Bashir dons the National team jersey. The attacker plies his trade in Denmark and has honed his predatory instincts against quality opposition week-in, week-out.
So with him complementing the likes of Atif Bashir and Adnan Ahmed in the centre, Pakistan’s attacking tendencies should rise enormously and hopefully the goals will also start flowing in.
