Legendary actor Clint Eastwood has revealed that he had thought about quitting acting about 30 years ago and wanted to focus on Production and Direction instead. He stated that he couldn’t quit because he still
enjoys everything he does and wants to keep doing cinema as he cannot end the affiliation.

Clint Eastwood’s latest film J. Edgar has recently released in theatres. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role and is the story of a FBI director’s private life. The movie has generated positive response from most
of the critics and is already being regarded as one of the best films of the year.

Eastwood expressed his delight on the great reception of the movie in its opening week and credited Leonardo for putting in a sensational performance. He insisted that he had plans of quitting acting a long time ago but had to
change his decision as he still wants to excel.

The Director who has made movies like ‘A Million Dollar Baby’ and ‘Mystic River’ stated that he loves to face challenges and that he will continue to make films that appeal to him.

“At 81, I’m still directing and still acting because I still enjoy it. I honestly expected to retire from acting 30 years ago. I thought, if I could just get this directing thing to work, I might be OK. But I still keep coming
back to acting because I occasionally find some material that challenges me and makes me want to work again,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

The 81-year old insisted that he found the story of John Edgar Hoover interesting so he had to mould it into a film and remained hopeful that the movie is appreciated amongst the audiences.

“I found it interesting to study a man from his youth to his old age, to see how he declined despite the best of intentions. The decline of the man from such great heights intrigued me,” the legendary actor concluded.

Clint Eastwood has won four Academy Awards in his career. He won the Best Director and Best Picture awards on two occasions for ‘Unforgiven’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby’.
