Mac Miller’s debut album hits the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 – Music

The American rapper, Mac Miller has been shot to fame with the release of his debut album, Blue Slide Park through Rostrum Records. The album was officially released in the first week of November, 2011 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 this week.
Miller’s music put a spell on the listeners as 144,000 copies of the album were sold out only in the first week of its release. The high sales and mammoth response of the album in such short time, set the new record of first independently-distributed debut
album to hit No. 1 since Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food Indie album captured the stop spot on charts in 1995.

In past, quite a few independently-distributed discs made their way to the top but none of them were debuts. The only attribute that helps Miller to stand apart from others is his debut album. Earlier this year Cake’s
Showroom of Compassion peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while Vampire Weekend’s
Contra did the same in 2010. Moreover, the charity compilation Hope for Haiti
Now and Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs also took No. 1 on the charts, last year.

The title of the album was revealed in July 2011 and it was named after a section of Frick Park in Pittsburgh known as Blue Slide Park. Mac Miller announced it on his YouTube page. Later on, he confirmed via Twitter that the first single along with its music
video would be released on August 18. Hence, the Frick Park Market came to spotlight as the first single of Mac Miller’s album.

So far, the music video for Frick Park Market has reached over 11 million views, which is pretty massive and impressive. It has debuted at number sixty on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

The title track, Blue Slide Park, was released October 13^th after Mac Miller received 25,000 pre-orders for the song. Miller privately held a listening session for NYC journalists, who gave their reviews about his music.

Miller is doing well but some of the music critics have said that he needs some improvement. It is likely that his future work will be catchier and more captivating. All the best!
