Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mir Hazar Bajarani on Thursday informed the National Assembly that a policy had been formulated to ensure proper counselling and training of national players to avoid any embarrassments in future.
Responding to a question in the Lower House during question hour session, he said that policy would be helpful to stop the incidents, as recently sentences awarded to three Pakistani cricketers.
He said that the professional cricketers would be appointed in Pakistan Cricket Board to ensure professionalism and smooth working. Pakistan Sports Board has initiated formal preparations for participation in the forthcoming Olympics 2012.
He said Indian blind cricket team has been invited. In PSB there are 500 to 700 employees and the government is also considering appointing female coaches for female players.
He said that the government was committed to providing maximum possible financial support to sport federations. During the current financial year the Government has provided Rs 37,850,000 as annual grants to National Sports Federations while Rs 25,000,000
has been granted to Pakistan Sports Board.
As many as seven projects are being continued such as construction of Boxing Gymnasium, repair, renovation of exciting Swimming Pool and allied facilities. External services network replacement of HB and AC system in Rodem Hall and establishment of Sports
Medical Centre in the premises of Pakistan Sports Board.
To a question, Minister for Communication Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan informed the House that the Economic Affairs Division has borrowed $ 1603 million from international financial institutions for various projects of National Highway Authority (NHA).
The minister further informed that $ 130 million have been borrowed from World Bank since March 2008 for completion of Moro-Ranjpur N-5 Highway, Mianchannu-Sahiwal-Orkra N-5, and Lahore-Gujranwala N-5, Kharian-Rawalpindi N-5, Tarnol-Chablat N-5, Buttal-Batgram
N-35, Bassian-Balakot-Naran N-25 and Kohala-Muzaffarabad highway.
Loans obtained from other international financial institutions include Asian Development Bank, $ 400 million, Islamic Development Bank, $ 162 million, Japan International Cooperation Agency, $ 174 million, China EXIM Bank, $ 492 million, and Asian Development
Bank, $ 245 million.
He said NHA only deals with projects agreements and implementation and it has not borrowed any loan from national financial institutions for development projects. The minister said that NHA has recently entered into agreement with Oil and Gas Development
Corporation (OGDC) and MOL for provision of a loan of Rs 700 million for construction of Khushalgarh Bridge.
