China and U.S. wrangle over South China Sea dispute in Asia-Pacific leaders’ meeting

China and United States continue to quarrel over the dispute of South China Sea. Leaders from both countries have occasionally stated their ideas about the presence and sovereignty on the region.

Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao insisted that there is no valid cause for the “outside forces” to show concern about the complex maritime dispute. This also stated a hidden warning for the United States and its allies that tend to involve in the critical situation.

Wen Jiabao said, "It ought to be resolved through friendly consultations and discussions by countries directly involved. Outside forces should not, under any pretext, get involved.”

During a meeting of Southeast Asia leaders, Jiabao expressed the point of view that China holds the sovereignty of the South China Sea. Several countries in the present in the meeting also claim partial regional claim of the sea route.

The action taken by U.S. has been the latest cause of the rising issue, between both countries. U.S. President Barack Obama has revealed that it will reassess and increase the presence of the military in the Asia-Pacific region.

During Obama’s visit to its ally, Australia he represented an agreement to county’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The agreement was to increase number of marine troops already working from Darwin, city situated in north Australia.

It will allow the U.S. army a closer access to its strong bases in Japan and South Korea. The agreement is planned to encounter the growing strength of China in the region. States is facing its history’s biggest economic rival.

After the retraction of its forces from Afghanistan and Iraq the country is focusing to keep a sharp eye on the south Chinese region, from where most important shipping route is taken. It generates more about 5 Trillion Dollars trade for U.S.

Obama also stated that even after budget cuts, America will stay here as Pacific power and plans to increase its forces and influence in the Asia-Pacific region.

While addressing during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Hawaii, Obama strictly warned China over its odd trade and currency policies that affect American companies.
