Finally, Facebook Inc has identified the responsible hands behind recent attempts to send a deluge of unsolicited hardcore porn and a number of violent images in some users’ newsfeeds.
These unbearable videos and images offended many users on the social network and they were at the brink of deactivating or deleting their accounts from Facebook.
In the past week, many users on Facebook received some really disturbing feeds on their profiles overrun with explicit hardcore photoshopped porn images and violent videos of some celebrities
like Justin Bieber in sexual situations. The unexpected feeds also included some photos of a dead dog and extreme violence.
The social networking company made the statement after getting complaints from the users that they are lokking into the matter and will find the faces behind these attempts. Now they have
identified thoe responsible for the crime and are working with its legal team "to ensure appropriate consequences follow."
The social networking company would have run the risk of losing more than 800 million of its active users, had they not quickly stanched the inundation and investigated it, as many users
threatened on their Twitter feeds that they would deactivate their accounts from Facebook.
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos said, "Facebook needs to get this under control, because the content is so offensive. Some people may quit Facebook."
Earlier today, Facebook said it had drastically limited the damage caused by a spam attack that took advantage of a browser vulnerability. Protecting the people who use Facebook from spam
and malicious content is a top priority for us. Users were tricked into pasting malware into their browsers, which in turn resulted in the sharing of offensive content.
Facebook added, “We’ve built enforcement mechanisms to quickly shut down the malicious Pages and accounts that attempt to exploit it.”
Many Facebook users lamented the images on microblogging service Twitter Inc. saying, "Has anyone been on Facebook lately?" tweeted Jay Ciroc, who identifies himself as a recording artist
living in New Jersey. "My newsfeed looks like a porn site." Some users said on Twitter that they’ll quit Facebook as a result of such malicious feeds.
