Farhad Hamayun is pleased with the efforts made by his crew in shaping up "Overload" and shared his delight over the commercial success of their latest song “Neray Aa”.
There are only a handful of talented drummers in Pakistan, Hamayun, if not atop the list, happens to be one among them. Hamayun has produced some good music ever since creating his very own band “Overload”.
“We’ve had a crazy response to it. Either people love it or they hate it. We’ve had over 26,000 hits (and counting!) on YouTube and Vimeo combined. It’s on all major channels. I think we got what we wanted from it.” The sound engineer
was quoted as saying.
According to some critics, “Overload” are the loudest band in Pakistan, the base of which was laid by Farhad Hamayun in 1994. Since then Hamayun was joined by Sheraz Siddiq on keyboard, while Pappu sain and Jhura sain are fulfilling
their duties on dhol.
Pakistani model-cum-singer, Meesha Shafi (vocalist), along with her husband, Mahmood Rehman (guitarist), joined the ban’s journey for a while but failed to continue their run with Hamayun after ending up with greater differences.
However, the departure of the integral members had little affected the band with Farhad Hamayun acting as a lead vocalist himself.
“Singing is not my forte but from this point on, I have become the permanent vocalist for Overload. I was never planning on being a singer. I have been drumming for the last 18 years but now it’s time for Overload to become self-sufficient.”
Hamayun concluded.
After receiving splendid audience response for their self title album in 2006, Overload came up with their second effort “Pichal Pairee” which was earmarked as good as its preceding album.
Speaking on the struggle involved in their evolution, Farhad revealed that he came a long way into the music industry, since the time when the audience used to watch PTV and NTM, revealing his love for the music.
Hamayun went onto reveal that one could barely see a drummer around the corner after the growing trend of playing guitar in Pakistan. He is of the view that people recommend and play guitar themselves because drums are expensive
and loud to play.
