As a leader, apart from being a mentor and guide, you are also a visionary for the institution you are heading. A vision for the Institution as well as a vision for your own life, serves as a north star, guiding you in your evolutionary journey. Alongside
providing a meaningful direction, the other important ability sought from a leader is to plan and execute short and long-term goals, with clarity and priority. Hence, another facet of a good leader is to a true achiever too.
Having understood your abilities as a Leader and a Learner, it is important to understand your role as a Visionary and an Achiever, to make the most of your association with the Institution. This chapter is an opportunity to plan and put all your ideas into
practice. You are requested to build on the insights gained from the previous chapters, and put a path forward for yourself as a learning leader and your Institution as a progressive organization.
An important part to be perfect leader is to develop a flawless vision. Before putting your vision into action, ask yourself the following questions”
- Is your vision a comprehensive statement that captures your personal dreams, desires and ambitions as an Institution leader?
- Is your Vision a ‘directional statement’ that guides every activity that you take up and do?
- Does your vision give you the energy to take up every day as a challenge and pursue it with enthusiasm?
- Does your vision push you to give your best every time and help you stretch your limits?
- Does your vision converge all your energies in a constructive manner towards making day-to-day activities more meaningful?
- Is your vision far-sighted and larger than self? (Does it have the potential to live beyond you as a person/leader?)
- Is your vision rooted in fundamental values and meant for the larger wellbeing.
