Old men are more loyal and they die fast, 90 years is the average oldest age – US Census

Old is gold, but how old is gold and whether it will corrode with time or still shine? These are the questions that rose from the latest survey conducted under the supervision of the US Department of Commerce – Bureau of the Census. According to the report,
90 years is the official average oldest age in America, surpassing the previous 85.

There are more astounding facts that the research squeezed out. One of them is that population falling in the old age bracket, from 90 and above, is skyrocketing. From 1980 to 2010, this population has doubled to 1.2 Million in America and is expected to
quadruple by the end of 2050.

Elderly, aged above 65 are said to take twice the slice of population pie during that time. However, that is not so worrisome. The fact to ponder is, by that time, social security services will be under double the pressure, serving this niche. The retirement
plans are expected to devour a major chunk of economy.

More amazing is the fact that retiree- to-labour ratio is speculated to take a major spin. Currently, there are two workers against ever three retirees and by 2030; at least, this ratio will take the worst form, one worker to every three retirees.

Even the current aforesaid ratio is taking its toll on the US economy, even in the presence of almost 80 percent of automated machinery.

Moreover, the research unveiled a surprising fact that shed some light on human conditions, in terms of gender. At 90 and above, there are almost 35 men against every 100 women in the US, ranging from 7 to every 100 in Washington, DC to 51:100 in Hawaii.
Poor Men!

The ‘happy states’ for men to live longer are Hawaii, Florida, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, New Mexico, California and Nevada. J

The report revealed that almost half of 90-plus men and 84 percent of women have a dead spouse while surprisingly 41% men are still married against not-so-surprising 6 percent of ‘ladies’, conforming to the fact that masculine gender is more loyal.

About 14 percent of folks aged 90 and above are under the poverty line against 9.6% at 65 to 89. Almost 38.2% of elderly aged 100 and above end up in a nursing home as compared to people aged 95-99 (31%), 90-94 (19.8%), 85-89 (11.2%) and 75-79 (3%).
