We welcome everyone but ticket to be given only on merit, says Imran Khan
Friday, November 18th, 2011 1:00:10 by Haris AnsariPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, has clearly indicated that his party welcomes everyone to join hands with them. However, he also asserted that his party will only give election tickets to clean politicians.
“People see PTI as the torch-bearer of political change in Pakistan. Therefore, we will welcome everyone but the parliamentary board will award tickets only on merit, the PTI chief was quoted as saying while addressing to the media personals at a press conference
held at his home in Lahore on Thursday, November 17.
The press conference was held to announce the induction of 36 former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid members.
When asked about Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s initiative about joining PTI, Imran coolly replied that his party had sent an invitation to the former Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stalwart and the former foreign minister has yet to make a decision.
The PTI chief then went on to stress on the fact that his party will not make alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and with the ruling party PPP.
On the other hand, PML-N has been consistently stressing on the fact that PTI is virtually acting for the government.
Rana Sanaulla, Punjab law minister, criticised Imran Khan and his party’s growing popularity by stating: Imran is a puppet of the establishment, which is patronising him for its ulterior motives”.
