Pervez Musharraf’s financial team refuse to release funds for his welcome

Close aides of former president Pervez Musharraf and donors of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) have refused to release funds to the party’s office-bearers based in Islamabad and Lahore, raising objections on their credibility.

The office-bearers of APML in Islamabad and Lahore have demanded Rs. 600 million from party head Pervez Musharraf  to make necessary arrangements of his arrival in Pakistan, scheduled in March next year. The money is supposed to spend on media projection
of the party and holding the public rallies.

Reports said that close aides of former president have expressed reservations over the performance of his (Musharraf) team in Pakistan.

The donors of the party raised objections saying that the party’s office bearers in Islamabad and Lahore especially about Senior Vice President Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Vice President Major Gen (Ret) Rashid Qureshi, Secretary General Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif
and Media Adviser Chaudhry Fawad Hussain.

Quoting sources, reports added that donors were annoyed about the embezzlement in flood victims’ fund by these persons. “Donors were of the view that these people spent money for their own media projection instead of party and Musharraf”.

The associates of the former president were surprised that how a huge amount of Rs. 600 million could be paid to the people who misappropriated 240 million rupees in flood relief fund, sources added.

According to the reports, the donors continued that Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Major Gen (R) Rashid Qureshi, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif and Dr. Muhammad Amjad has brought bad name to the party by misusing the flood relief funds.

It is worth highlighting that Dr. Amjad was accused of purchasing a luxury car from the money that was meant to spend on flood victims while others were blamed for embezzling the funds by constructing substandard shelters homes.

Pervez Musharraf also expressed his annoyance over the misuse of funds by office bearers of the party and warned them to remain careful in future, sources added.

Meanwhile spokesperson of APML Chaudhry Fawad Hussain denied the report about demanding such a huge amount from party head. He, however, said that the party offices in Pakistan certainly needed money to run the affairs.

“The message is conveyed to Pervez Musharraf according to the party requirements here,” the spokesperson added. He stated that party in Pakistan was trying to generating the funds within the country to run the affairs smoothly.
