Meanwhile, a workshop with the name of ‘Dengue and Winter’ was organised by the Pakistan Medical Society, wherein the society’s chairman, Dr Masood Akhtar including social workers and official members took part in it with zeal and zest.
Dr Masood revealed that it seemed that changes in the weather conditions have played a critical role in the diminution of the dengue epidemic. But it does not mean that they have been avoided the dengue perils.
While Addressing the workshop, PMS Vice President Dr Israr Hussain Asif said that dengue viruses transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes are extremely susceptible to ecological circumstances. He stated that warmth, rainfall, and moisture are vital to mosquito’s
continued existence, reproduction, and growth. For that reason, these factors could influence mosquito presence and profusion.
So far, cold weather conditions have helped to reduce the perils of dengue pandemic in the city to a great extent.
