No one should question Pakistan’s intentions in the war of terror – Yousuf Raza Gillani

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that no one in the world should have any doubt about Pakistan’s intentions to deal with the evil of terrorism and reinstated that the country is committed to eradicate extremism and terrorism
from the world.

The United States of America and its allies started a so-called war against terrorism after the attack on the World Trade Centre in New York on September 11th, 2001. Since then, Pakistan has been America’s most important partner in this war because
of its strategic importance. However, the world community has raised some question marks about Pakistan’s intentions as the Al-Qaeda supreme leader, Osama Bin Laden was found and shot dead in Abbottabad earlier this year.

Pakistan has paid a huge price because of its involvement in the war against terror as more than 35 thousand people have been killed in this war and the country has also faced immense financial trouble as the foreign companies have shown very less interest
in investing in Pakistan, where the security risk is high.

This is the reason why, Gillani has been forced to claim that all the allegations on Pakistan are baseless and no one has the right to question Pakistan as there is no other country in the world which has paid a higher price for this war.

The Prime Minister said, "No one should doubt our intentions against terrorism because the Pakistani nation and its economy have suffered the most and are still facing the major brunt of terrorism as a frontline state. How can we collaborate with those who
are against our country”.

Most of the political analysts feel that Pakistan should get out of this war because the situation in South Asia was pretty stable before the incident of 9/11 and this war has destabilized Pakistan in more aspects than one.

While talking about the current political crisis in Pakistan because of the controversial memorandum issue of the Pakistani ambassador in the US, Hussain Haqqani, the Prime Minister said that the most important thing for the government is the sovereignty
and there would be no compromise on that.

“Political differences can be put aside without slightest hesitation in case national sovereignty is threatened," Gilani added.
