Oprah Winfrey to launch new TV show ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’
Monday, November 21st, 2011 10:06:24 by Melvin ArthurOprah Winfrey, the veteran talk show host, will commence a new talk show entitled "Oprah’s Next Chapter" in January on her fledgling cable TV channel OWN. Less than a year after ending her long running TV show "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in May after 25 years,
she will be this time seen going out of the TV studio to meet and chat with celebrities on their own turf.
The first show of ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ will feature Winfrey talking with Aerosmith frontman and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler at his family home in New Hampshire. Tyler will be talking about his drug addiction his love life and his new-found fame
on "American Idol", OWN said on Friday.
In the upcoming episodes of the show, Oprah will go to Haiti with actor Senn Penn to look at recovery efforts from the 2010 earthquake. Moreover, she will tour Skywalker Ranch with "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, and "celebrate the power of God and community"
with televangelist Joel Osteen.
She took over the chief executive officer in July after disappointing viewing figures. The initiative was to refocus the channel’s direction and put more of herself on screen.
With the hype of her upcoming show at apex, Oprah stated, "After 25 years I got myself out of the studio chairs. I moved into the next chapter, and I am having more fun than ever — moving around the country and the world talking to people I’m really interested
in getting to know and I think viewers will be, too,"
Time Magazine wrote about Oprah, “Few people would have bet on Oprah Winfrey’s swift rise to host of the most popular talk show on TV. In a field dominated by white males, she is a black female of ample bulk. As interviewers go, she is no match for. What
she lacks in journalistic toughness, she makes up for in plainspoken curiosity, robust humor and, above all empathy.”
The queen of talk shows is regarded as the most influential woman on television. She launched the Oprah Winfrey Network in the month of January 2011. Considerate amount of focus will be put on uplifting menu of lifestyle, documentaries and advice programming.
