The Stretched ear lobes are increasingly becoming trendy and common sight in the most of the Western countries. It seems like creating large holes in the ear lobes has started appealing to more and more people in the recent times. For many people, who actually
live a simple and clean life, such traits come with an “ouch or ewww” factor but people who love it find a lot of aesthetic sense in it. They feel proud as if it adds an extra feature to their beauty. Now isn’t it strange and surprising that a feature, which
used to be associated with punks, hippies or the rock crowd at some point in time, is attracting all walks of life.
However, it’s been observed that stretched lobes are mostly seen on the screen. People in showbiz are more into following and spreading this trend. The American rapper Travie McCoy and American singer Adam Lambert are two perfect examples of stretching devotees.
Likewise, the British fashion expert Gok Wan can be spotted with large wooden ear plug adornments, which are being used to stretch his lobe. (How weird…yuck)
In one of the BBC One Television shows, a contestant was recently ousted who had both ears stretched and decorated with black "flesh tunnels". It was so wide and evident that people could easily see through the lobe.
Marcus Mellor, who runs a piercing parlour in Manchester by the name of ‘the Holier than Thou’, says ear stretching has become more trendy in the last five or six years. Mellor also has stretched both his ears.
Alix Fox, who writes the body modification section in the British alternative magazine Bizarre, says ear stretching is in vogue. "It’s fashionable and it’s easier to find a reputable, clean, knowledgeable place to have this kind of thing done."
Nonetheless, people who actually like ear stretching should know its hazards as well. In the first place, there is no point of return. If a person adopts the stretched lobe, the hole will never return to its normal. The other danger is blow-out, where the
flesh takes out a bad shape. Furthermore, the reconstructive surgery to restore the stretched lobe is possible but it will surely cost you a fortune.
