How can you set game-winning vision
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 5:46:47 by Waqas MunirVision is not restricted to the individual but every institution needs to have a vision too. For an individual to work effectively within the institution, he/she needs to have clarity on both the visions (self and institution)
to align the same for growth and evolution.
As a leader, when you are able to appreciate the larger vision of the Madrasa, and establish a meaningful connect to your own life ambitions, there is an automatic sense of belonging and ownership. This feeling is important to
engage effectively and contribute. It also helps you build a team of like minded people and optimize their skills and interests towards the betterment of the Madrasa. Understanding the purpose of the Madrasa makes every effort relevant and enjoyable.
Goal setting for your Institution
A vision is made up of many milestones and these milestones in turn are reached by achieving certain long term and short-term goals. Hence, a goal or a milestone does not become a vision by itself, it only qualifies a vision. Another
reality check to validate the soundness of your Vision is to assess the nature of short and long-term goals planned for your Institution.
You need to analyse you with only three questions:
- How appropriate are your short term and long-term goals, towards your Institution’s vision?
- When each of them is achieved, will they add a cumulative value to the larger vision of your Institution?
- How well planned are you with each of these goals?
With these pointers, revisit the goals if need be.
Once you have set a goal, get a proper plan to create a road map of your journey. Map the goals you have set for your Institution (eg. for the next 10 years) on this visual map. It would help you:
- See the interconnectedness of goals towards your Vision.
- Help you prioritize and plan the relevant activities.
- Track and monitor the progress of the goals.
- Serve as a reminder and help you focus.
