The Muppets are back with a bang!!!

The Muppets are back with their first theatrical release in twelve years. The American musical and comedy movie smashed the big screens today in America and is set to release on February 10th, 2011 in United Kingdom. It is also the first Disney
produced Muppets film since 1996’s Muppet Treasure Island.

The 120 minutes flick follows the world’s biggest Muppet fan, Walter (starred by Peter Linz) who overhears oilman Tex Richman (played by Chris Cooper) plans of destroying the Muppet Theatre and Muppets Studio to drill oil.   Walter convinces his brother
Garry (performed by Jason Segal) and Garry’s girlfriend Mary (starred by Amy Adams) to raise $10 million to save the theatre. In order to raise the money, they stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever in which they must help Kermit the Frog reunited the Muppets,
who have all gone their separate ways.

The movie received best ratings among the Muppets series and positive reviews.

Review Aggregator of Rotten Tomatoes gave it a perfect 100 percent ‘Certified Fresh’ rating out of sixty-one reviews with a rating average of 8.1 out of 10, making it the highest rated film in the Muppets series. The site general consensus says, “Clever,
charming, and heartfelt, The Muppets is a welcome big screen return for Jim Henson’s lovable creations that will both win new fans and delight longtime devotees.”

Metacritic on the other hand gave the film a score of 77 out of 100 based on fifteen generally favourable reviews.

Wesley Morris of Boston Globe says, “I’ve never seen a movie so perfectly balanced between unabashed nerdiness and hipness. It’s transcendent that way.”

Charlie McCollum from San Jose Mercury News declared, “The film is loaded with everything Muppets fans love: loopy musical production numbers, very funny montages, some hilarious asides and weird little moments.”

IMDB gave the movie 7.6 out of 10 ratings by its 490 users.

The Muppets resurrect everything Jim Henson’s characters stand for, both literally and figuratively. The movie’s darker moments only emphasize just how alive and full of hope this story is. In that context, singing and dancing seems natural, and
The Muppets does a lot of it. All these things makes the flick a must watch for everyone.
