Amazon’s secret weapon in increasing customer traffic: Prime Membership

The Black Friday is right around the corner and people are getting ready to make haste for the stores to avail the best discounts and sales over the weekend. However, not only conventional roofed stores are offering discounts but online stores are also making
efforts in increasing customer traffic.

Amazon.com is not only world largest online bookstore but also has a host of other products from electronic gadgets to movies in their catalogues.

The most intriguing however, is the Amazon’s Prime membership, that allows not only free-shipment but a number of other facilities to the beneficiary.

Many people however, ward off the membership because of the $79 required to avail this facility.

What many Amazon users and customers do not know is that there is a secret hidden in the Prime membership.

The prime holder of the membership has to pay the $79 fee; there is no doubt about it. However, the user can also invite six more household members to avail the same free-shipment facility and many other benefits that come with it.

The reason that people have been oblivious of this deal is because it has been buried in the settings menu.

Following are the steps to activate the household membership:

• Click on "Your Account" (it’s a little link in the top-right corner of the screen after signing in)
• Look at the "Settings" section, and find "Manage Prime Membership"
• Clicking on that will enable sending invitations to close folks
• Select relationship, and enter an e-mail address and a birthday of the recipient to send out the invitation

The invitees will be able to benefit from free shipment. Moreover, the user can also share the fee with the household members.

This membership is not limited to family. College fellows, hostel roommates or colleagues can also share the facility.

There are two more types of Prime Membership. Students can avail this feature for six months by adding the address of their alma mater. The other version is for parents called Prime MOM, which is not gender specific. A mother or father can become a prime
member for three months and with every $25 purchase of baby items, one more month is added to the membership period.

However, in both cases, the prime holder cannot invite his/her friends to become a fellow member.
