Dr Rushdi Al-Ani, Iraq’s Ambassador to Pakistan, has tempted Pakistani businessmen to instigate investment in Iraq as there are abundant investment and business opportunities available in the oil-rich country.
On Friday, November 26, the Ambassador attended a congregation at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) where he enlightened the Pakistani Businessmen on the situation prevailing in Iraq and said that country was in
dire need of manpower from Pakistan to complete projects in construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
Iraq has been hit hard with terrorism in past few years. The country has suffered a lot since the invasion of American armed forces. But now they are re-building for a better future and Al-Ani, wants Pakistani people to play their
part, considering that people of both countries share same Islamic beliefs.
Pakistan’s can help in sectors such as education, healthcare, IT and engineering, therefore, the skilled labour of Pakistan should avail the maximum of these opportunities in the country asserts Iraqi Ambassador to Pakistan.
Al-Ani divulged that Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Pakistan’s prime minister, was due to visit his country in the near future where he would conform to a number of economy related ventures.
Al-Ani urged the president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to orchestrate a delegation to Iraq so Pakistani entrepreneurs can get first-hand knowledge of business facilities being offered by the Iraqi government.
Construction work is at high in Iraq and as per the Ambassador Pakistani construction companies and investors can consider the terrorism hit country a potential market where the chances of growth are at max. Likewise, Iraq could
benefit from cheap and abundant labour available in Pakistan for the purpose.
Iraq deems Pakistan as a reliable source in the domain of educational aids and stationery. Pakistani publishing houses and stationeries are capable of supplying and meeting the demands of Iraqi educational system opined the Ambassador.
Pakistanis are also quite advanced in telecommunication sector and the president of LCCI also assured to lend a helping hand to their Iraqi brothers in developing telecommunications linkages.
