PAKISTAN- Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Reserves, Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhary has said that Pakistan will need to discover more oil and gas reserves to cope with the demanding challenges of winter in the future. The population of the country is rising
with every passing day and already Pakistan is facing its worst energy crisis since its birth in 1947.
The energy shortfall is rocketing to a high sky high value, thanks to the poor performances from WAPDA and KESC. Both electric supply companies have been failing to achieve their goals for considerable amount of time. At the Annual Technical Conference (ATC),
Ejaz Chaudhary explained that the federal government needs to take actions to promote more discoveries in oil and gas sector in Pakistan. He said that the recommendations emerging from these technical sessions will be beneficial to develop exploration and
production policies.
It has been learnt from reliable sources that the Annual Technical Conference will end with a panel discussion and recommendations would be given by a panel of experts to face the challenges faced by Pakistan in form of electricity and gas shortages.
The ATC has been organized by Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geoscientists (PAPG) and Pakistan Section of Society of Petroleum Engineers (PSE) and the panel is consisted of Petroleum engineers, mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, geoscientists,
students and geologists.
“Over the next few years, we will hear much more about the role of technology, and how innovations in exploiting unconventional reserves can unlock resources earlier considered as stranded and impossible.”
Pakistan has tremendous oil, natural gas reserves. It is estimated that Pakistan’s coal reserves are enough to meet country’s electricity needs for next 30 years without a shut down. The government has to come up with an emergency policy to explore the reserves.
Baluchistan is said to be filled with gas reserves. However, due to political influence, authorities have not been able to extract the reserves.
