The “White Ribbon Day” calls for end to violence against women
Friday, November 25th, 2011 10:06:10 by Umair HassanThe White Ribbon Day is being celebrated today (25th November) across the world in an effort to urge for an end to physical, psychological and economic violence against women.
The International Day for the Elimination of violence against Women is a worldwide initiative for public awareness to understand the importance of a woman who has never attained the level of respect what she deserves especially in the third world countries.
Not only millions of women globally are being humiliated physically, but these women are being targeted for domestic and civic violence/terrorism.
Women’s activists around the world anxiously wait for this day to celebrate a whole day for their own fundamental rights. This day is also backed by the United Nations, who invite different governments their NGOs and campaigners to hold seminars on issues
which are directly linked with women and their lifelong struggle to get an international observation for all the problems these women have to face in everyday life.
The World stat shows an alarming advocacy for the physically abused women. The worst numbers come from the African countries like Somalia, South Africa, Zambia, Algeria, Zaire, and Kenya where 67 percent of women are being beaten by their husbands, physically
abused by their parents and sexually molested.
To end brutality against women is a severe dilemma in our society and the statistics are showing the one significant factor as women over the age of 15 have reported experiencing physical, sexual, Psychological violence at some time in their lives.
In addition, with more emphasis to the explicable personal outlays to the women involved, this hostility costs our communities too where domestic and family violence is foremost the biggest cause of homelessness for women and their children around the world
while White Ribbon Day promotes work to end this evil violence.
