Why supercomputers will live only in the cloud

Until now the new public beta of Cluster Compute Eight Extra Large is considered to be the Amazon.com’s most robust cloud service.
Its launch indicates that Amazon Web Services (AWS) aims to magnetize more companies towards the high performance computing. "AWS’s cloud for high-performance computing applications offers the same benefits as it does for other applications:
It eliminates the cost and complexity of buying, configuring, and operating in-house compute clusters, according to Amazon,"
There are various applications that include Physics simulations, Seismic analysis, drug design, genome analysis CPU-intensive analytics applications, and aircraft design.
This is the main advantage of cloud Computing: the ability to access the most expensive computing systems using a self-provisioned and time-shared model. Supercomputers may be out of reach of most organization’s budget.
Therefore, they cannot afford super computers and to overcome their impairments the organizations then usually go for rental arrangements. Then a question arises: what will ensue if these superior computing services move away from the on-premise hardware
and software model entirely?
What if they instead select to provide multitenant access to supercomputing services and hide the high-end MIPS behind a cloud API? More practical means of services can be provided using this kind of model.
Other more ambiguous platforms and application could be a contester for the cloud-only model such as huge database services bound to high-end analytics, geo-analytics, any platform that deals with massive image processing, and other platforms and applications
that share the patterns.
