Irish band Westlife reveals they will part ways next year after farewell tour

Irish band Westlife has revealed that they will part ways in the Spring of the year 2012 after the completion of their Farwell Tour. It was stated that band manager Louis Walsh wanted the group to return after
a break of two years but Westlife decided against it and will be releasing their last album at the end of this year.

Westlife have been in the music business for over 14 years now and is one of the biggest bands coming out of the UK. They have sold over 20 million records and have been named the Best Pop Group at the Brit Awards on two occasions.

Band member Nick Byrne confirmed the news stating that the Irish group will disband next year. He claimed that the band wants to end with a high and are planning a great Farewell Tour early next year and also plan to release a
‘Greatest Hits’ album at the end of the current year.

“It genuinely is the end! We’ve still got our tour, and we’re really looking forward to going out with a bang. Louis wanted us to take a two-year sabbatical and come back to it, but that would have been too watered down for us.
We needed to get away from it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Byrne added that Westlife has been through some very low times in the past and are delighted on continuing for 14 years. He revealed that there was one time when nothing was going right as Brian McFadden had left to pursue a solo
career. He added that their new album was rejected by the listeners and the tour also did not go that well. But the band came out successfully through that patch and is still performing at their very best.

“We came back and recorded what we all thought might be our last hurrah – songs like ‘You Raise Me Up’ – and it ended up being huge, so we stuck with it a while longer. It’s a miracle and a blessing that we lasted 14 years,” he
concluded.

Their new album is set to release in November.
