Qureshi’s Ghotki rally attracts attention

If there is anything eagerly awaited and closely observed, it is the supposedly big rally of Shah Mehmodo Qureshi scheduled for Sunday, 27^th November. There are reports that the former foreign minister has got a lot of assurances from the bigwigs
in the politics that they will join him whatever decision he makes.

The rally at Ghotki which will also be attended by Pakistan Tehrik-e Insaaf has a lot of big names for the observers to behold. From Imran Khan who will make an appearance to Marvi Memon who is said to be all set to join PTI. The famous singer Salman Ahmed
is also expected to turn up in the rally.

As news reports come, specially the live tweets made by journalists, Shah Mehmood Qureshi insists that he wants to send a positive signal to Sindh where he hopes to gain the confidence and votes of the masses who usually have complete support for the Pakistan
People’s Party. It was also said Imran Khas has to do a lot to attract people in today’s rally.

But a lot in fact depends on Shah Mehmood Qureshi himself. He has to show strength through today’s gathering as it will determine his future move as well. The fact that he might announce joining Imran Khan’s PTI is not completely ruled out. Whatever decision
he makes, the fact is that it will strengthen the party he joins in.

Earlier a report had clearly suggested that because he had remained a former foreign minister, and quite a successful one at that, he was now looking behind that slot. Some even said he was looking for Prime Ministerial post specially since when he has rivalry
with Yousuf Raza Gillani, the serving premier of the country.

But will PTI or Pakistan Muslim League-N will offer that position for him? It is indeed unclear; something that also keeps the pundits guessing. With the rally now around the corner, how many people turn up in it will for sure make his intentions known for
all the parties. The fact that Marvi Memon will also be in the rally, the chances are that she will announce joining PTI.

What Qureshi does is something that we will have to wait for.
