Bonn conference will not have Pakistan

It has recently been decided by the cabinet of Pakistan that the country will not attend the Bonn conference that is scheduled to be held next month. The conference is to be held for the purpose of discussing Afghanistan but Pakistan has decided not to be
a part of the meeting in light of the NATO attacks that were carried out on the border posts of the country.

The attacks took place on the Saturday gone by and went on for almost two hours. The result of the aggression was that 24 of the Pakistani soldiers lost their lives. The NATO forces were being contacted by their Pakistani counterparts in order to stop the
fire but no cease fire occurred and the border posts continued to be the target of the attacks.

Pakistan was considered to be one of the most important players in the Bonn conference as the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan are joined together and Pakistan is strategic in carrying out any activity in the country of Afghanistan.

Hasan Askari, who is a political analyst in Pakistan, expressed himself in the following manner regarding the airstrikes conducted by NATO: "It is a way to build pressure to make the United States understand that Pakistan takes this very seriously. It is
registering its resentment with the international community."

After the tragic incident in which Pakistani soldiers have lost their lives, the U.S and Pakistan relations have experienced a major setback. There is wide spread hostility in Pakistan against the United States and it is reflected in the strong statements
given by the Pakistani government while condemning the attacks that were made within Pakistan’s borders. The media of Pakistan is strongly condemning the attacks that took place.

On the other hand, the following comments were made with regard to the Pakistan-US relations, by the US General Martin Dempsey, who is one of the top most U.S. officer of the military: "It’s had its rocky moments in the past. This one certainly is more serious
than any i’ve been involved with and i’ve been working issues with Pakistan for the last 10 years.”
