Pakhtuns want peace on their soil, says ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan

Awami National Party (ANP) central chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan, has stressed that Pakhtuns cannot be wiped of their soil by force and asserted that they know how to defend their territory.

While talking to the media at Bacha Khan Hospital Complex in Shahmansoor on Monday, the ANP chief said:

“Pakhtuns want peace on their soil, they have been working for peace and tranquillity in their region”.

He also added that armed forces were capable to encounter external threats and no country should allow use of its territory to alien forces to launch attacks against Pakistan.

“The Nato strike is an aggression against the country. We will defend our country with full vigour and no one is allowed to violate our boundaries and attack our forces”, he said.

At the gathering, many workers belonging from different political parties from Buner and Mardan announced their affiliation with ANP. All key ANP personnel attended the occasion.

“Our leaders and workers have rendered numerous sacrifices for the country`s sovereignty and solidarity. The followers of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan are ready to lay down their lives for the motherland”, the ANP chief said.

He also added that ANP has fought against predators, and the party leadership and workforce have played a vital role in caveats against foreign invasions. “Some elements hatched conspiracies against the democratic setup in the country”, Wali Khan added.

ANP party elections are scheduled for November 30. Mr. Khan said that should he be re-elected as the central president of the party, he will try to sway ANP provincial chief, Afrasiab Khattak, to lure vulnerable workers back to the party.
