The stand-up comic and actor Patrice O’Neal bids farewell to life at 41 – Obituary

The American veteran stand-up comedian, actor and radio personality, Patrice O’Neal, suffered from a severe stroke last month. He was given immediate medical treatment, which helped him to survive for a few more days. The complications, in the aftermath
of stroke, eventually led O’Neal to death on Tuesday, November 29. He lost the track of his heart-beat in New York-area hospital. The legendary entertainer was born in 1969 and died at the age of 41.

He started his comedy career in native Boston at an open mic at Estelle’s Bar and Grill in the 90s. Later on, he moved to New York City and joined the Comedy Cellar. In the hopes of finding greater fame, he moved to Los Angeles and opted for small TV roles.
Nonetheless, he did not enjoy his stay in Los Angeles and relocated to the United Kingdom. He worked harder to get recognition in UK but lack of success forced him to move back to New York. After many hardships in the early career, he finally settled down
in his seat after getting an offer to do his first half-hour special for Showtime in 2002.

Meanwhile, he got the chance to record Comedy Central Presents special and managed to stay in the limelight. In the same year, he was shot to fame through radio show Opie and Anthony, where he was featured as a guest. He also presented a show on XM Radio
and grabbed more attention of fans.

He appeared on the famous Conan O’Brien and David Letterman’s late-night TV shows and was a frequent guest on various other radio shows. His performance was a highlight of the Comedy Central roast of Sheen, who had been fired from the hit CBS comedy "Two
and a Half Men."

O’Neal had half-hour specials on Showtime and HBO and was the host of "Web Junk 20" on VH1. He also acted in the TV series "Arrested Development," "Chappelle’s Show" and "The Office."

Patrice O’Neal was a talented person and put smiles on the faces of many people. He will be remembered as a well-versed comedian. May his soul rest in peace!
