“Why this Kolaveri Kolaveri Kolaveri Di?” Why!!! Whyyyy!!!!???
Thursday, December 1st, 2011 5:37:00 by Khayyam BokhariA new trend which Bollywood and ‘Tollywood’ have taken up is this new rhythmic number, a song which breaks the shackles of what music was, and what it ought to be.
Recently Indian music has entered a revolution. The traditional Indian filmy music had only three realms: either the song was classical, or it was a melody or it was a rocking number. Recently, we are witnessing a diversion from this so called traditional
path of Indian cinematic music.
The beginnings of the change were seen in Bollywood itself. At first came spicy item numbers like ‘Munni Badnaam’ and ‘Jalebi Bai which vulgarized (or sensationalized?) lyrics and music to vernacular strata that the public found it immensely
enjoying. Never before in history of Indian cinema, there was such a commercial-oriented sensationalization which surprisingly gained critical acclaims as well. If you remember,
Munni Badnaam got the Black Lady that year.
However, these were professional attempts to sensationalize songs, and hence retained a minimum decency and standard. Certainly, some unprofessional attempts turned out to be lethal and popular all over Facebook and YouTube just because of three facts:
- The lyrics had no particular meaning.
- The composition was such that even an alien won’t find it difficult to sing.
- It was for youth.
- And lastly it was vulgar.
Though we had enough of ‘Papi Chulo’, another great song Why This Kolaveri Di? Penned and sung by Tamil actor Dhanush has flooded the market. Outrageous lyrics, excruciating accent and innocence of the crew mutually have made the
song a direct hit. For those who still haven’t listened to the song, I am providing a few ‘killer’ lyrics in a dark room, amidst a few banging metallic instruments, a notorious actor in performance:
Distance le moon moon
Moon color white
White background night night
Night color black
Why this kolaveri kolaveri kolaveri di?
Another piece from the song:
Hand la glass, glass la scotch
Eyes full tear, empty life
Girl come, life reverse gear
lovvu lovvu, oh my lovvu
You showed me bouvu
cowu cowu holi cowu
I want u hear nowu
God I m dying nowu
She is happy howu?
The meaning of Kolaveri – it means killer instinct. Yes! I totally agree that the person who’s singing this song has killer instincts because I really want to kill myself as I have made my ears hear total crap. Wasn’t there any other good lyricist in the
house who could right better lyrics? If not then I am sure Indians have sensational singers?? So why this Kolaveri Di? And surprisingly it is flying over the internet. Well for those who like this song, I am extremely sorry you guys need to listen something
that your ears and other around you would prefer.
