A bar in London has become the world’s first to offer urine-controlled video games in iys bathroom. Taking a leak will never be the same.
In most pubs and bars, urinating means just that – empty your bladder, wash your hands and return to your table. However, taking a pee in a bar in South London will be a completely different experience.
The exhibition has taken upon itself to install in the men’s bathroom a certain number of games that are urine-controlled. These are games with names carefully thought out, such as the ‘Clever Dick’ and ‘On the Track’. The system is thought to be the first
of its kind in the world, and will make a trip to the bathroom more fun as it will also be an opportunity for advertisers to promote their products.
Developed by the UK based company Media Captive, these high-tech urinals come with LCD screens of 12 inches just above. Ads play on the screens to as the ‘man’ approaches the urinal. After detect that the ‘man’ is in position and ready to pee, the system will
go into game mode.
"Sophisticated algorithms then allow the user to do something simple, but very endearing – control the system directly to their flow left or right," says the blurb on the website Media captive. So with the game of skiing, you are able to navigate the course,
with some subtle movements, but clever. How well you do in this game is entirely in your hands, so to speak.
Pee-controlled urinals are the brainchild of Gordon MacSween, a man who is actually paid too pee. "We tend to drink lots of water so we can test the product in most cases," he told Time Out London magazine.
MacSween said that when the system was tested in a bar in Cambridge recently, a couple of changes in behavior among the public pee were noted. "There was less damage, so we kind of expected because we designed the game to avoid wading, and less vandalism,"
he said.
"When we put in, people thought it would be torn from the wall in a week, but it’s still there after four months. Because people have a laugh, there is much less vandalism. People tend to be less angry. "
At one point, MacSween was baffled by the ability of players to achieve scores well above anything he ever had. After talking to some customers, he discovered why. "It turns out people were to learn to stop and start (their flow of pee) to get higher scores.”So
if you end up peeing in the points, you know exactly what to do.
