A letter to the people of Pakistan (Part 1)

Dear Pakistani Nation,
I am sick and tired of hearing you people whine about inflation, injustice, corruption, immorality and last but not the least, the government. Your non-stop complaining is giving me a headache and has forced me to give you people a shut up call. It feels
as if I am surrounded by an entire population of brainless and lazy creatures who are blinded by their make-belief moral superiority and false sense of intelligence.
I see you all crying about the high rate of inflation and how the prices of all commodities are soaring. The very next moment, I find you people pulling the latest model of a Nokia or Apple cell-phone out of your pocket, something that must have cost a fortune.
If you all are really so burdened by inflation, how on earth are you managing to spend so much on cell-phones and phone cards? Come on admit it – you are not using your phone to talk to your mother or sister for hours. Yes the initial idea behind buying a
cell-phone was to remain in touch with your family and friends, but when did it become necessary to ensure that the cell-phone had to have a music player with awesome sound quality, a minimum of 5 megapixel camera and a memory in gigabytes. Plus, when did
keeping a cell-phone mean using it unnecessarily to talk to a girl or guy tagged as your girlfriend or boyfriend respectively. If the beast called inflation is really wrecking havoc in the country, then how do you all afford to waste hard-earned cash on such
useless things and activities?
You people are really struggling to make ends meet? Then how come you all spend so much on food? Why is one of two chapattis or a plate of rice not enough to sate your hunger? Why do you all eat as if you are eating the last meal of your life? Please stop
eating like dogs and start eating like civilized and sensible human beings. Over-eating does not do much good for your health either, so please learn to stop pigging out. And oh, kindly reduce the amount of tea you drink each day. Sugar does not grow on trees
and I am certain that no country consumes as much sugar as you people. It is annoying to see you people get hooked to a luxury and then scream when you are asked to refrain from over-indulgence in that luxury.
There are people who rant all day about the outrageous prices of clothes. Excuse me, but there are markets that sell you good enough stuff for peanuts. Stop chasing labels like buffoons and step out of your complexes. Trust me when I say that shedding your
complexes would serve to make life so much easier and less complicated for you all.
There is still a lot more that I want to say to you people, but I’ll save it for next time. I assure you that you people will not have to wait too long before hearing from me again as I am far from done yet. I believe that you people lost your ability to
think straight and it is my duty as a responsible citizen of this country to knock some sense into you thick skulls as maybe that would shut you all up and allow you to be more thankful to God for blessing you with so much.
Take really good care of yourself and the people around you.
Yours Truly,
A truly patriotic Pakistani citizen
