Megamind is worth a watch

Megamind is one of the biggest 2010’s computer animated superhero comedy
flick which is directed by Tom McGrath. It was released on November 5th, 2010 and produced by DreamWorks Animation and Red Hour Productions.

The $130 million budgeted movie follows a super-villain Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) who succeeds in killing his good-guy nemesis Metro Man (played by Brad Pitt). Regardless of achieving his goals, Megamind becomes bored since there is no one left to
stop him and fight. He creates a new foe, Titan (voiced by Jonah Hill), who sets out to destroy the world instead of utilising it for good purposes. As a result, for the first time ever, Megamind is forced to save the day.

Distributed by Paramount Pictures, Megamind was released in Digital 3D, IMAX 3D and 2D. Along with Ferrell and Pitt, it features voices of Tina Fey and David Cross.

The 98 minutes movie received good ratings and positive reviews.

It received fresh reviews in the site Rotten Tomatoes and it reports that 72 percent of people gave the movie positive reviews. The site general consensus states, “It regurgitates plot points from earlier animated efforts, and isn’t quite as funny as it
should be, but a top-shelf voice cast and strong visuals help make Megamind a pleasant, if unspectacular, diversion.”

Bruce Diones of New Yorker said, “The fast-paced wisecracks and ironic asides that are the studio’s hallmark help to push the film past the lumpy, generic storytelling.”

Bob Mondello of NPR praised the movie further by saying, “The kiddie set can chortle at Megamind’s slapstick and its goofy one-upmanship while adults get a kick out of all the smart spatial tricks that highlight the 3-D effects.”

The movie opened to $12,530,397 on opening day and earned $46,016,833 over the three-day weekend. It took the number one spot and averaged $11,668 from around 7,300 screens at 3,944 theatres. It was also the fifth highest opening for an animated feature
in 2010. It remained number one in its second weekend and dropped 37 percent to $29,120,461 and brought its 10-day cumulative total to $88,822,635.

Megamind is a must watch movies not only for the kids but for their parents as well.
