Areeb Khan and Ahmed Mehdi hold the key for Bahria University against LUMS – football

Bahria University are set to take on the Lahore University of Management Sciences in a football match, on the 12^th of December. Scheduled to take place in the football ground in the vast LUMS campus, the exact time of the match has not yet been
confirmed.

That, however, will not play too much of a role as both teams are well underway in their preparations ahead of what is sure to be a fierce clash between the two bitter rivals.

While the team in Lahore will have home advantage the away side will rely on two players who could very well hold the key to getting the Bahrian side a favourable result.

Areeb Khan may not have been in the starting line up in previous matches, yet LUMS has always been a happy hunting ground for the defensive minded midfielder.

Areeb has the honour of having scored the historic winning penalty against the hosts two years ago, a goal which gave Bahria their first victory against LUMS since the fixture began. He was also an integral part of the squad that went all the way to the
final of the LUMS Olympiad Futsal tournament not so long ago.

Yet, it is not just past exploits that make him a vital cog in the Bahria wheel; the only holding midfielder in the side, if Areeb does start he could provide extra cover to the back four and allow some of the more attack minded players such as Faizan Sameer
Malik and Ahmed Mehdi more freedom to attack.

Ahmed Mehdi will also be just as important as he has the ability to beat his man with skill and pace and create opportunities for the likes of Ahmed Saeed Butt and Faizan to score from.

If Mehdi and Areeb play at the top of their game, then it could mean a tough day at the office for the LUMS playing XI who will have to contend with hard tackling and deft skill.

All in all, the match between LUMS and Bahria University is turning into a truly mouth watering prospect.
