Orphan: A mysterious thriller

Orphan is a story of a little girl who is mature by brain but never reveals her true self until she is being adapted by a family of four. The family starts experiencing troubles with the little girl and amazingly, it is only female members
of the family who get affected by the girl’s terror and could hardly find a way out of these troubles.

The plot has been directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by David Johnson and Alex Mace. The main cast includes Vera Farminga as ‘Kate Coleman’, Peter Sarsgaard as ‘John Coleman’, Isabelle Fuhrman as ‘Esther’, CCH Pounder as ‘Sister Abigail’, Jimmy Bennett
as ‘Daniel Coleman’, Aryana Engineer as ‘Max Coleman’, Brendan Wall as ‘Detective’, Genelle Williams as ‘Sister Judith’ and Jamie Young as ‘Brenda’.

Kate and John Coleman are rebuilding their troubled marriage. Kate had a drinking problem, but is in therapy and is doing well. She has been sober for one year. The couple decides to adopt a child.

When they meet the nine-year-old Russian girl, Esther, at the St. Marina Orphanage, they immediately fall in love with the well-educated orphan. Their young son, Daniel, is hostile to his new sister; but their deaf-mute daughter, little Max, is enchanted
with her – at first.

Eventually, Kate begins to feel that Esther is manipulative and possibly even psychologically disturbed. John refuses to listen to his wife’s misgivings, and the wounds in their marriage reopen.

Kate calls Sister Abigail at the orphanage, and the nun informs her that Esther has a troubled and mysterious history. Kate delves further into Esther’s past and discovers she is not at all who she pretends to be.

Will Esther be successful in her mission or will the parents eventually solve the matter out together and unite as one happy family.

The film is a must-watch for all thrill lovers and would be better to watch if the lights are switched off.
