Pakistani Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has ruled out threat to current democratic system and stressed that the parliamentary system had gained strength in the last four years. He asserted that the current government are not facing any threat
of destabilization.
“To destabilize the government is next to impossible”, Mr. Gilani told media personals when asked about the possibility of general elections before the upcoming Senate elections in March.
The Prime Minister added that it was the testimony of a strong democratic system that the government was in place despite several undemocratic attempts against it.
He said the conspirators were now giving a hopeless try to destabilize the government by pushing for general polls before the Senate elections.
“They can do no harm to us. I want to give this message loud and clear. The democratic system was not established in a single day and was the result of numerous sacrifices by great leaders including Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed”,
he added.
The Pakistani Prime Minister then further said: “This system has come to stay and it will not be destabilized through any democratic or undemocratic move. Those who called the Parliament a rubber stamp, should clear their mind”, he reiterated.
He said the entire nation, civil society and media were supporting democracy to prevail in the country.
