Afghanistan seeks Pakistan’s support to end Taliban infiltration

In order to conciliate the ongoing tensions and settle the disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Umer Daudzai has requested Awami National Party (ANP) Chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan, to convince the government for
taking stern action to curb the movement of the Taliban at the Pak-Afghan border.

The Afghan envoy made the request during a meeting with ANP’s Chief, Asfandyar Wali, and party’s President of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa chapter, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, on Friday.

According to media reports, Mohammad Umer Daudzai sought the help of ANP to induce the government of Pakistan for early and solid measures to strictly curb the movements of Taliban and miscreants at the Pak-Afghan border.

The ambassador also asked Asfandyar to remind the government for extending cooperation in investigations of the killing of former Afghan President and head of Afghan High Peace Council, Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani.

During the meeting, Daudzai also repeated the allegations levelled by Afghan President Hamid Karzai saying that plot to assassinate Rabbani was prepared in Pakistan and murderers also travelled from the same country.

The Afghan envoy also conveyed the concerns of his government saying that a Pakistani banned organization had claimed the responsibility of blast in Muharram procession, which caused the death of several innocent Afghan people.

Asfandyar Wali assured the ambassador that the message of the Afghan’s government would be conveyed to the top leadership of the country.

The reports further stated that the ANP chief condemned the NATO attack on Pakistani check-posts, clarifying that Afghan’s soil must not be used for carrying out attacks against neighbouring country by the coalition forces (NATO/ISAF) or the terrorists.

“Meaningful dialogues are the only way to resolve the emerging crisis and conflict between the two neighbouring countries,” he maintained. The ANP’s president and the Afghan ambassador vowed that people of both the countries would not allow anyone to disturb
their relations.

The tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan further enhanced after Pakistan refused to participate in Bonn Conference, called to discuss the future of Afghanistan. Pakistan boycotted the moot in protest to the NATO air strike that led to killing of 24 army
personnel, in Slala Check Posts, Mohmand Agency.
