Bin Laden’s wives free to leave Pakistan

Pakistani officials have said that Osama bin Laden’s wives are free to leave the country. His two wives were kept in Pakistan after the May 02, 2011 incident that killed their husband in an attack launched by American soldiers.

Both the wives will be sent back to their native home land, Saudi Arabia. His third wife however, will not be returned to Yemen and might be offered a new home in Qatar as Yemen officials refused to take her back.

Pakistani officials have commented on issue, "We have been working with the Saudi officials since the [Pakistani] Judicial Commission on [the Abbottabad raid] interviewed the Bin Laden widows.

"The Saudi government has agreed to accept his children and two wives, and we are working on logistical arrangements now".

Bin Laden’s eight children will also travel with his wives. There has been no official confirmation from Riyadh as Saudi ambassador in Pakistan has stated that he has no information of any transfer whatsoever. Osama’s 22-year-old son, Hamza was also killed
during the attack as their bodies were buried in the sea.

Osama bin Laden was the world’s most wanted man and was known to be the founder of militant Islamist organization, Al-Qaeda. America accused Osama for the attacks on World Trade Center and many other attacks. Osama bin Laden was born in Riyadh, he was son
of Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden who was a billionaire with close connections with Saudi royal family.

Bin Laden married at least five times. His first wife was a Syrian, left him in Afghanistan weeks before the 9/11 attacks and returned to her homeland.

He divorced his second wife in the beginning of 1990. His fifth wife, Yemeni Amal Ahmed al-Sadah, married him in 2000. This leaves the third and fourth wives, the two Saudis.

According to local or Arab traditions, it should be the close relatives of a dead father, usually the brothers, who look after the bereaved spouses and children.

It appears that despite the gap between Bin Laden and his family, one of Saudi Arabia’s wealthiest business families, some efforts have been made to take care of the widows.

It is believed that the departure of Laden’s wives will bring an end to the destructive period in which Pakistan and its citizens have faced the maximum loss.
