James Cameron has turned out a competitor in the lucrative world of Avatar, a former employee who claims that it was him and not the millionaire director of ‘Titanic’ that gestated the idea for Pandora blue dolls. This was reflected by Eric Ryder in a lawsuit
against Cameron, alleging that during his years as an employee of Lightstorm Entertainment, he wrote a story called ‘KRZ 2068’.
According to Ryder, the script was based on Cameron to shape ‘Avatar’, which so far is the highest grossing film in history with over 2,800 million raised worldwide, without giving any share to its used in the project.
The movie was further nominated for nine Academy awards which included Best Director for Cameron, while won for Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction. Also it broke records for the highest grosses Bly-ray of all time.
Ryder began work on its history in 1999, an environmentalist argument for which he had developed a rundown, as well as photographic material in three dimensions. "History 3D handled the colonization of the hands of a distant moon corporation and lush vegetation,"
a line very similar to that of ‘Avatar’, albeit with different names and creatures.
According to the lawsuit, Ryder rejected the project in 2002, arguing that there was not sufficient interest in the market for a science fiction movie with a strong environmental burden. Despite such negativism, the agreement was that it would be compensated
if they were to use the material in the future.
It is the first time Cameron has accused of plagiarism by the theme of ‘Avatar’, although it is the first time that a former employee files a lawsuit against him. All the while the director of ‘The Terminator’ is prepared for the filming of the next two
installments of ‘Avatar’, which will be shot in Los Angeles.
