Google blocks 22 applications from its Appstore for Android-based devices for malicious activities

Two days earlier, reports unveiled a hoax that customers are being charged premium fee for application on Facebook without their prior knowledge. Now Google has become victim to such fraudulent scam.

In a report, Google closed 22 misleading applications. They were offered on Google’s Appstore for the Android market and suggested downloading applications like Angry Birds, horoscopes or wallpaper.

In fact, when the user clicked on them without reading the terms of use, he subscribed to a messaging service at premium rates, which is of a high-cost, since these messages are paid by the user in the monthly bill generated by the cell phone services operators.
However, the operators do not have their hand in this malware.

Even if the user read the terms of use, its content was made too perplexed that the user will not get the hint of an online con.

In the US, these con-applications do not work because the code used to activate is not supported. However, it has been detected functioning in different countries like Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, UK, Italy, Israel, France and Germany.

This weekend, the Spanish-language website has distributed a malicious message that apparently is sent by a receiver in Facebook contact:

"You saw a video you go?", says the caption. By clicking on the link, it directs the surfer to a page that mimics the design of Facebook, but that is hosted on a Blogspot domain, a blogging platform from Google.

On the Internet, the user is requested to install a plug-in to the browser in order to watch the video above. This supplement is an alleged extension to watch videos on Youtube, but in reality is a malicious code used to spread the threat to other users.

The next step is to request a mobile phone number (in this case, the user’s personal number) with the excuse of providing a code for viewing the content in the video.
